Fuhrman and Ethel Fuhrman, husband and wife, sought to have awarded to them the temporary care, custody, and control of two minor children who were strangers to the blood of the petitioners but who were alleged to have been abandoned by their parents. We shall hereinafter refer to the petitioners as appellants, and to the chief probation officer of the juvenile court of Spokane county, who resisted the petition, as respondent.
